About Us

GET WILD | FIND FOOD | EAT IT

Gourmet By Nature offers unique wild food experiences, foraging and wild food guiding. We explore the wild landscapes of Nova Scotia, find food and dine in the outdoors - all in gourmet style. It doesn't get any more fresh, more local, more wild.

Our mission is to celebrate wild food, sustainably connect with nature, and enjoy the outdoors in all seasons.

SEAN & TARA LACEBY

Sean has been passionate about the outdoors his entire life. Spending much of his youth foraging the shores of the Northumberland Strait, he followed his love of finding and preparing food and pursued a culinary career. He has enjoyed being a chef in his family’s inn and restaurant The Blomidon Inn in Wolfville for over 25 years.

Through the school year, Tara is a faculty member at the Nova Scotia Community College. Outside of the classroom, Tara has a love of the outdoors, flowers, and of course food & wine - which captured both her palate and heart when she became a Sommelier in 2011. Tara and Sean enjoy life's many adventures with their three beautiful children on their small farm in the Annapolis Valley, NS. Together they operate Gourmet By Nature.

Join us for one of our wild experiences, a wild cooking class or have the Wild Chef prepare a gourmet meal in your own kitchen! Our Wild Outdoor Kitchen hosts a number of our cooking classes, and our Wild Experiences take place in nature within 20 minutes of Port Williams, NS.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Katie, PEI

Lia, Wolfville

...These two are putting together some pretty amazing experiential tours right here in Nova Scotia...do you want to understand where your food comes from or could come from...do you want to hunt comfortably and ethically...so much to unpack here...and they’re doing it right.

Chris, Halifax

There are so many wonderful things in our woods that have been used for centuries that I had no idea about. Our guide Sean was incredibly knowledgeable, making our experience super fun. Be prepared for great tastes and a warm fire! Outstanding.

Katie, PEI

Thank you for a truly memorable evening and feast - we have never enjoyed anything like it!
The flavours, the presentation and the descriptions were incredible.

Kyle, Halifax

Learning to live off of the land and paying proper respect to the life/food that exists around us has always been something I have desired to do.  The experience today was inspiring and I look forward to learning more in time.
