Things To Know
We want your time with Gourmet By Nature to feel relaxed, enjoyable, and well-prepared. This section provides a few helpful details to ensure you know what to expect before you arrive—from what to wear and bring, to how weather and location may shape your experience.
Our goal is to keep things simple and comfortable so you can focus on what matters most: enjoying the outdoors, vand making the most of your time with us.

Foraging in Nova Scotia
Foraging in Nova Scotia is a unique way to connect with an area and discover the flavours of each season. From wild berries and coastal plants to forest herbs and mushrooms, there is a rich variety of ingredients throughout the year in Nova Scotia. All foraging during our experiences is guided, with a focus on safe identification and sustainable practices. We hope that you take away a desire to explore and learn more with confidence while gaining a deeper appreciation for all that grows around us and how to safely harvest and prepare many wild foods.

What to Wear
If you're foraging: All experiences take place outdoors, so we recommend dressing comfortably and in layers. Coastal areas are often a bit cooler and breezier than inland conditions. Closed-toe shoes or light hiking footwear (sneakers) are ideal for walking on uneven terrain.
If you're doing yoga: Dress in comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to move freely. Light athletic wear, a sweater or jacket, and comfortable footwear for walking to the site are ideal.

What to Bring
If you're foraging: Please bring a reusable water bottle and anything you may need to stay comfortable outdoors, such as sunscreen, bug spray or a hat. If you prefer a chair or a blanket for seating (vs a beach log or the rocky beaches), please bring one along for your comfort. We do of course have a few extra chairs in case you need one!
If you're doing yoga: Have a favorite mat? Bring it along. Didn't pack your mat? No problem, we've got extras to share. An extra layer or blanket is always a good idea for those gentle moments of relaxation and stillness. Please also bring a reusable water bottle and anything you may need to stay comfortable outdoors, such as sunscreen, bug spray or a hat.

Weather & Cancellations
Our experiences are designed to embrace the natural environment, and light weather conditions are often part of the experience. In cases of severe or unsafe weather, we will contact you in advance with options to reschedule or adjust your booking.
This perhaps is a good place to mention our cancellation policy - we ask for a minimum of 72 hours (3 days) notice if you are unable to join an experience. This gives us an opportunity to offer your spot to someone else and also to prepare for the experience accordingly.
Yoga: We will not do yoga outdoors if there is rain, it's just not safe (or comfortable/enjoyable). We will do our best to offer an alternative in advance (we'll reach out by email and socials), we have a few secret cozy spots that will work!

Experience Locations
We aim to never tread too heavily on any natural location, so we visit many different sites along the Bay of Fundy. We also may need to adjust our location depending on what Mother Nature is providing (weather and food ingredients). Specific locations with directions are shared upon booking to ensure the best possible experience based on conditions and seasonality. All experiences take place within the Annapolis Valley and Bay of Fundy region, typically within a short drive (20-25min) of Port Williams.
